Jose Luis Martinez
Managing Attorney
Jose Luis Martinez received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Houston and his Juris Doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Jose was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 2013.

Prior to working with JFAI, Jose was the Supervising Attorney with Alonso & de Leef where he worked to protect vulnerable non-citizens by helping them obtain immigration relief through the immigration courts. Jose’s experience also includes supervising South Texas College of Law Houston’s Asylum and Human Trafficking Clinic, which trained law students in representing individuals in immigration court to obtain asylum. Jose also supervised South Texas College of Law Houston’s Advanced Immigration Clinic, which trained law students in representing individuals in detention to secure their release and obtain relief from removal. Jose helped launch the clinic in July 2018, which enrolled its first class at the start of the 2018 fall semester. Jose worked in private practice for four years, gaining experience in removal defense, family-based immigration, and employment-related immigration. Jose was a partner of the Martinez & Wilfong Law Firm and has also worked with Gee & Zhang. Jose is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, where he proudly served with the Army’s 101st Airborne Division and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2005 to 2006.
