We Are Finally Reunited

Updated: Jul 29

"During my case, I remembered my mom crying many times as she recalled the moment when she had to leave Honduras and me behind with my grandparents. But she is now so happy that we are finally reunited," said Angie.

In 2023, Angie bravely traveled from Honduras to the United States to reunite with her mother, Hilda, and older sister. The reunion brought mixed emotions of bliss and fear regarding Angie's immigration status. Fortunately, Hilda found Justice for all Immigrants (JFAI) and worked with Daniella, a JFAI Staff Attorney, whose determination changed their lives.

At 17, Angie urgently needed to apply for a Special Immigrant Juvenile visa before aging out of eligibility. Daniella's swift efforts provided essential support during this challenging time, even after USCIS initially denied the application. Daniella's crafted response to the court meticulously explained the circumstances of economic hardship and the need for a family reunion for Angie and Hilda.

JFAI's relentless advocacy led to Angie's visa approval, bringing relief and joy to the family. Angie is now on the path to applying for a green card, obtaining a work permit and a driver's license, and planning for a higher education. 'Without JFAI, I would've never received this opportunity. I genuinely feel this organization wants to help and not take advantage of us,' she added. Angies firmly believed in the JFAI's commitment to helping immigrants in need. Angie's case emphasizes the importance of high-quality legal services for young immigrants facing similar challenges.

This success is made possible by the generosity of our supporters, donors, and friends' contributions so we can continue to bring positive changes to many immigrants' lives.
