Sheila Ortega-Calvillo
Sheila Ortega-Calvillo is a passionate advocate for immigrant communities with hands-on experience in immigration law. Sheila’s personal journey as a DREAMER and her DACA status inspire her continued commitment to immigrant rights and advocacy.
During her undergraduate career, she volunteered at Baker Ripley and United We Dream, facilitating free legal service clinics in Spanish. Seeking to make a greater impact, she joined Deason Law, PC, and then Ruby Powers Law and began processing complex immigration cases, gaining valuable insights into the legal system, and coordinating weekly immigration law education workshops.
Her commitment to social justice is further emphasized through her work with organizations such as JFAI, ALPFA and Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE), promoting access to resources for marginalized groups.
As a Board Member of Justice for All Immigrants (JFAI), she works to provide affordable legal services to low-income families in Texas.
